Synopsis: Erwan is an outstanding trader working for a large New York bank. A real star of the Wall Street boom, he makes the financial markets tremble with the huge risks he takes. Glancing through an article on climatology, he is hit by the similarity between climatic changes and stock-market flows. He sets about finding Sybille, a famous climatologist, the author of the article, and he persuades her to help him find the unstoppable winning system that would allow him to model financial markets.
Convinced that he has found the Philosopher’s Stone, he attempts a very risky manoeuvre that ends in a significant “blow” and the suicide of Georges, a fellow trader and his best friend. The following day, the facts end up proving him right. But too late.

Banished from the financial markets, Erwan goes off with Sybille and sets up a high-risk hedge fund: the Flying Fund. This highly speculative fund is based on Erwan’s talent and Sybille’s skills that have perfected the “Black Box”, a secret and coveted mathematical programme that allows the fluctuations of financial markets to be predicted.

The Flying Fund soon begins to take off: Erwan notches up some record performances. Sought after by investors, there is no stopping Erwan in the risks he seems prepared to take. This conclusive triumph not only infuriates Erwan's former colleagues, but also soon begins to upset the largest banks and financial institutions...
